Good day my lovely fashionistas,
This weeks post is all things London Fashion Week as iconic buildings around the city are over run with stylists, models and fashion designers showcasing their latest collections.
There is definitely something in the air during fashion week in the capital. One thing I love about London and have been hard pressed to see replicated in many of the other cities I have visited to date, is the ability Londoners have to be truly unique and unafraid to dress in head to toe trends or in their fail safe uniform of “I’m comfortable and don’t care” style.
Last year I was lucky enough to be invited to a number of fashion shows in prestigious buildings like Somerset house and the Natural History museum. I cannot explain the excitable elation I experienced on the morning of the event. I was also filled with utter dread as to what on earth I would wear to such a soirée. After numerous outfit changes I chose the below due to its ability to keep me cool when sitting under the harsh runway lights and also the flats made walking between the shows a trifle more enjoyable :-
My shirt is a wonderful silk tied front Massimo Dutti creation, my white pleated skirt from penguin was purchased on a Saturday jaunt to Portsmouth and my blue suede brogues are also from Massimo. My sunglasses and plum lipstick are from the new Burberry collection which stopped me in my tracks when walking past the shop in Bond Street. I just HAD to have them! I also had my most revered arm candy with me in the form of my Chanel 2.55 bag which holds a special place in my heart. Fabulous and incredibly functional! The smile on my face never dissipated for the whole day as the models sashayed along the runway in fairytale Oscar de la Renta and futuristic laser cut designs.
I am obviously biased as I love living in this diverse, edgy city but I can honestly say that I completely understand why so many designers love coming to London where street style is ingrained and not taught in so many people.
Here’s to another great week in the capital, let’s see what the new collections have in store.
Until next week, take care
